Conserve Your Water

It is very important that at this time in our history we all take resposibility for the health of the planet that sustains us all. We can do this with only really quite simple changes in our habits, especially where the use of water is concerned. There are some points below to help with water savings:

Refrain from using huge amounts of detergents, bleach or chemicals that can kill the natural bacteria for instance in your waste treatment system, and also use biodegradable soaps and detergents. Neasden Plumbers will advise on water saving.
Purchase a spring operated timer for your garden sprinkler system that will connect to the outside tap. This will stop any overwatering should you forget to turn off the sprinkler.
The Water pressure in your home above 60psi can damage your plumbing system and will cause excessive water use. Check your local water authority to see what the water pressure is in your area. If it is more than 60psi, consider fitting a pressure reducing valve that will limit the water pressure within your home.
Look at your water meter in a period of time when no water is in used. Note the meter reading and check it 8-10 hours after. If this meter has changed, there is an indication that you may have an undetected water leak, which should be found and fixed.
Leaks in WCs take more than 40% of your total water use. Fitting a new toilet flapper valve and fill valve will keep your toilet running efficiently. A Neasden Plumber is qualified to fix all plumbing problems.
A leaking tap that drips once per second will lose you around 8 gallons each day, which is 3000 gallons every year.
If you replace an old shower head it will save you up to 7.5 gallons of water each minute without losing a full spray action at low or high water pressures.
